1. Who we are

This Privacy Policy explains how Slippie Software (Pty) Ltd (registration number 2026/639089/07), trading as Slippie, of Riebeek Kasteel, Western Cape, South Africa, collects and uses personal information. Contact the information officer at dewald@slippie.co.za.

2. Roles under POPIA

When a firm uses Slippie to request and store client documents, the firm is the responsible party under the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA). We act as an operator on the firm’s instructions for that client data.

We are the responsible party for marketing-site visitors, pilot enquiries, firm user accounts, and billing contacts we collect to sell and support the product.

3. Information we process

• Firm and user account details (name, email, role)
• Client contact details supplied by the firm (including WhatsApp numbers and email)
• Document request metadata, reminders, and delivery events
• Documents and media uploaded via WhatsApp or the client portal
• Pilot booking enquiries submitted on this website
• Billing contact details and subscription status
• Technical logs needed for security and reliability

4. Payments

Paid subscriptions are sold by Slippie Software (Pty) Ltd. GBP monthly checkout is processed by PayPal. ZAR monthly checkout is processed by PayFast. USD checkout is processed by Creem. Those providers collect payment-card or wallet details and the billing identity needed to complete the purchase. We do not receive or store full card numbers.

5. Why we process it

To provide the service, send document requests and reminders, file submissions, support firms, secure the platform, respond to enquiries, and fulfil a paid subscription. We do not use document contents to train machine-learning models or sell personal information.

6. Who we share it with

• Hosting and infrastructure providers that run Slippie
• WhatsApp / our business solution provider (currently Twilio) to deliver messages you initiate
• PayPal, to process GBP checkout, invoices, refunds, and subscription billing
• PayFast, to process ZAR checkout, invoices, refunds, and subscription billing
• Creem, to process USD checkout, invoices, refunds, and subscription billing
• Email providers used to send operational mail
• Authorities if the law requires it

7. International transfers

Application data is hosted with providers configured for the deployment (preferring EU or South African regions where available). Payment and messaging providers may process data in the United Kingdom, European Economic Area, United States, or other countries where they operate. Those transfers are necessary to take payment (when checkout is available) and deliver WhatsApp messages.

8. Retention

Firms can configure document retention aligned with South African accounting record-keeping. Account and billing records are kept for as long as the subscription lasts and for a reasonable period afterwards to meet tax, accounting, and dispute-handling duties. Pilot enquiries are kept only as long as needed to respond and follow up.

9. Security

We use TLS in transit, access controls, private document storage (not public URLs), and operational logging. No measure is perfect. Firms remain responsible for who they invite into their workspace.

10. Your rights

Data subjects should generally exercise POPIA rights (access, correction, deletion, objection) via their accounting firm as responsible party. Firm users and website visitors may contact dewald@slippie.co.za. If you are in the UK or EEA you may also have rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, and objection under UK GDPR / GDPR, and the right to complain to a supervisory authority.

11. Cookies

This website uses essential cookies for security and to keep a session (for example CSRF protection and the pilot-booking form). We do not use advertising cookies and we do not sell browsing data.
