Who we are

Slippie (“we”, “us”) provides document request, reminder, and filing software for South African accounting, bookkeeping and tax firms. Contact: hello@slippie.co.za.

POPIA roles

When a firm uses Slippie to request and store client documents, the firm is the responsible party under the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA). Slippie acts as an operator (processor) on the firm’s instructions. We process personal and financial information only to provide the service.

What we process

  • Firm account details (name, users, contact information)
  • Client contact details (including WhatsApp numbers and email, where provided)
  • Document request metadata and message delivery events
  • Documents and media uploaded via WhatsApp or the client portal
  • Pilot booking enquiries submitted on this website
  • Technical logs required for security and reliability

Why we process it

To deliver document requests and reminders, file submissions against the correct client records, support the firm, secure the service, and respond to pilot enquiries. We do not use document contents to train machine-learning models or for unrelated analytics.

Where data lives

Application data and private document storage are hosted with providers configured for the deployment (preferring EU or South African regions where available). Exact residency for a production environment is documented in the firm’s processing arrangement and operations runbook.

Retention and deletion

Firms can configure retention settings aligned with South African accounting record-keeping needs. On written request from the responsible party (or a data subject via the firm), we support deletion or return of personal information we hold as operator, subject to legal retention duties.

Security

We use encryption in transit (TLS), access controls, private document storage (not public URLs), and operational logging. No security measure is perfect; firms remain responsible for who they invite into their Slippie workspace.

Your rights

Data subjects should generally exercise POPIA rights (access, correction, deletion, objection) via their accounting firm as responsible party. You may also contact us at hello@slippie.co.za and we will assist the firm as required.

Marketing website visitors

If you book a pilot, we process the details you submit to respond to your enquiry. We do not sell personal information.
